5 Months

Well, everyone told me that the time would go fast, but holy cow! Alan is 5 months old now, and growing like a weed. He is almost 17 lbs now, and a little on the chubby side. I still think he's perfect though. It's been a busy couple of months. Alan has started eating rice cereal, and just yesterday, his first tooth came through. He's just a little grumpy about it, but overall he's been a pretty good sport. A little Orajel, and a nice bath usually helps.

Since it's been so hot out, we've been trying to get some time in the pool. Alan loves to swim, and will gladly stay in the pool until he's a prune. He has also discovered Ginger. He likes to sit back and watch her, and sometimes he tries to get her attention, but she's not really into him.

Alan also got a chance to hang out with his cousins Alex & Avery. They all got along very well... actually they just kind of sat there. I'm sure that when they get older they will have more fun!

Summertime Slacking

So I've been a little slow with the updates lately, but there hasn't been a lot going on. Alan is growing like a weed. Everyone said that the time flies, but this is crazy! He is over 14lbs now, but it feels like 40. He's found his hands and feet, and loves to stare at them. While he knows how to roll over, he doesn't like to perform on demand. He's a lot like his dad... stubborn. He can also reach out and grab things, and pull them to his mouth.

He sleeps a lot less during the day now, but he does pretty well at night. We still don't have him sleeping in his own bed, but there will be plenty of time for that later. For now I'm trying to enjoy this stage while it lasts.
We FINALLY got to meet beautiful baby Avery. He is of course perfect, and looks like a perfect mix of Spencer and Alex. He is big by newborn standards, but compared to what I see everyday, he looks so tiny! He's also a really chill baby, and he hardly cried at all when we were there. I'm sure that he will be as smart and precious as Alex.

Fathers day is coming up soon, and Alan and I are ready. We've had daddys gifts for weeks. We're going to Grandma Pennys for lunch and swimming, then to spend dinner with Grandpa. It will hopefully be a fun and special day.

Alan's Baptism

On Sunday, May 24th, Alan was baptized at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Scottsdale. It was a really pretty service, and it was performed by Pastor Dick, who is a very quirky but lovable old man who adores Alan. After church, everyone came back to the house for lunch and hanging out. It was almost perfect, except we missed the Lindstroms, who had a pretty good excuse. Baby Avery had just arrived, and wasn't ready for his debut just yet. We can't wait to meet the new addition, and then new baby Jones-Lacey this winter!

Hiking and Hanging Out

Last weekend Alan went on his first hike in Sedona with Ryan and Joee. It took a little while for Alan to warm up to the front carrier, but once he realized that he was actually attached to daddy, he started to have fun. It was a pretty shady and easy trail, and it was only about 3 hours. After that we ate dinner in town and headed home.

Alan is pushing 12lbs, and he is 24inches long. I can't believe how big he is getting! He got a couple of shots, and has to get a couple more next week. He took it like a man, and only cried for a few seconds.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Well, we had a very eventful weekend. It was Alexs 2nd birthday, so we headed out to Mesa for his party. It was adorable, and there were babies everywhere! Alex got some awesome toys, but I think penny won with the power wheels. It was fun to see family that we haven't seen in a while, and we learned that there is going to be another baby coming in December (I think). I'm so excited for Adam & Lindsay! Here's hoping for a girl!

Alan is still doing great. He is getting bigger everyday, and this week he got a super fun play mat. He loves to look at it, and he bats at the toys. He doesn't have a whole lot of control, but he's getting there!

Easter, a little late

So Alans first Easter went very well. We went to church with the York family, and Alan slept the entire time. The Easter Bunny brought Alan some chimes that hang from his car seat, and a giraffe that plays a lullaby. After church we went over to great grandma & grandpas house for dinner. We hung out and talked and watched everyone try to get the smoker working. Aunt Jen & Uncle Ben came over with Alex, who spent the better part of the afternoon playing with his new choo choo train. All of Alans 'good' started to run out, and he started to get fussy as the day went on. The food was awesome, and we took some leftovers home that daddy ate later that night. All in all, even though daddy made Alan wear a stupid snuggly bunny outfit, the day went well. Now we are looking forward to Alexs birthday, and seeing the family again!

5 weeks and a trip to the zoo

Well it's been a busy few weeks with the cousins birthdays and Easter coming up. Alan has been growing fast. At his one month check-up he was 9lbs 12oz, and 22.5 inches long. He seems like a big boy to me, but I guess he is still pretty tiny. 90th percentile in height, and 50th for weight. He is still a long string bean.
We tagged along with Emily and the kids to the zoo today. It was packed, but everyone had a good time, especially Alan, as you can see from the pictures...

3 Weeks

Alan is now 3 weeks old, and doing great. I had to go back to work, but Alan has really been loving his time with his aunt Emily and cousins. Sometimes when I have to preview homes, Emily and the kids ride along to stay in the car with Alan. The return to work has been easy, but it's definitely a team effort.

Alan is growing and changing every day. He's not as chubby as the doctor would like, so we have been working on fattening him up. He goes to the doctor every week to check his weight, which is 8lbs 12oz as of Tuesday. His tummy has been a little upset, so the doctor has me avoiding milk, eggs, and soy beans. Hopefully that will make him feel a little better. Mommy misses ice cream...

Finally...

The Legges finally welcomed our new addition on Wednesday March 4th, at 3:30pm. It was a long night and morning at the hospital, but it was worth the wait. He was 8lbs 6 oz, and 21.5 inches long.

This week we've just been laying low, and trying to develop some kind of system. Alan sleeps really well, and usually gives us about 5 uninterupted hours every night. We have the co-sleeper all set up, and we had the best of intentions of using it. However mommy usually ends up plucking him out because he is just too warm and snuggly to resist.

On Tuesday Alan had his circumcision, which I'm sure was harder on me than him. It is still gross to look at, but doesn't seem to be bothering him anymore. Daddy is the king of the Vaseline application, since every time I do it I end up using too much and basically negating all absorbency of the diaper. Scott changed his first diaper solo yesterday. Alan definitely made it count. It was a big one!

Ginger is taking the new addition in stride. She was a little curious at first, but unless he were made out of tennis balls, she has no use for him. Mostly she just hangs out like normal, and has been very patient with the lack of attention that she's been getting.

All in all, things are awesome. We couldn't be happier with our new little family!

Still waiting...

Another appointment today, but no news. Alan seems to be perfectly happy where he is, and he's going to stay there for a while. The doctor is thinking that we may get to the due date after all. I'm getting anxious, but I know he'll come out when he's good and ready.

Getting close!

Well, we went in for a check up today, to make sure that Alan isn't outgrowing his space. While I am 36 weeks, he was measuring closer to 39 weeks. I was seriously getting nervous. Turns out, he isn't too big after all. After an ultrasound to check on him, we found out that while he is of nearly average weight, it looks like he's going to be pretty long. That makes sense because of how tall Scott and I both are. He's starting to get a little cramped, and I'm getting a little annoyed, but we'll hang tight until he's ready to come out. He'll make his appearance when he's ready.... I guess the waiting is the worst part!
